Planting Seeds of Wellness: A Creative Reflection Workshop

July 11 @ 1:00 pm 2:30 pm

At Peg’s, we are committed to improving the lives of people living with serious mental illness. We also recognize the importance of creating opportunities for reflection, connection, and conversation that build greater understanding around mental health and help foster more informed, compassionate communities.

Join us for a creative workshop with Taylor Flinn, Founder and Executive Director of Quiet Thoughts Matter, as we explore themes of growth, resilience, and self-care through art and guided reflection.

Participants will engage in a hands-on planter decorating experience that combines creativity with meaningful conversation. As you paint and personalize your planter, Taylor will guide the group through reflection prompts focused on growth, resilience, and the importance of caring for ourselves and one another.

Once your planter is complete, you will add a live plant as a symbolic reminder that personal growth, like a garden, requires intentional care and patience. No experience is necessary—all materials will be provided, and participants will leave with a completed planter and inspiration to carry into their daily lives.

Quiet Thoughts Matter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting emotional wellness through creative expression, community engagement, and movement. Through welcoming, interactive experiences, the organization encourages people to explore connection, self-awareness, and personal growth in approachable and accessible ways.

Exploring the Inner Critic with an Art Therapist

Join licensed psychotherapist and clinical art therapist Summer Myers for an experiential workshop exploring the voice of the inner critic through art-making and reflective discussion. This session offers a grounded, accessible introduction to how self-criticism operates, and how we might begin to relate to it with more curiosity and compassion.  Participants will engage in real-time art-making exercises designed to support reflection on self-criticism and self-compassion. No art experience is required, and there is no emphasis on skill or outcome. This is a process-focused space where participants are invited to engage at their own comfort level. Gentle group discussion will be offered, with full autonomy over what, if anything, is shared.  The workshop also introduces foundational concepts from art therapy and parts work (including Internal Family Systems–informed ideas), offering a basic framework for understanding inner dialogue and the “parts” of ourselves that show up in moments of judgment or pressure.  We hope participants leave with a new perspective on the inner critic, a basic introduction to art therapy and parts work (IFS-informed), and an experience of using art-making as reflection rather than outcome. Artwork created in session is optional to keep or leave behind.  Participants are welcome to bring magazines, photographs, or other collage elements to incorporate into their work. Summer Myers is a licensed psychotherapist, clinical art therapist, and educator whose work centers on perfectionism, awe, wonder, and creativity. She's never encountered an art medium she doesn't like or a human she hasn't learned from. Summer is the founder of Already Good: The Anti-Perfectionism Project, and she practices therapy across California, Utah, and Ohio, with an office in Hudson. She lives with her family and two chaotic dogs.
